THOMAS STEELE AND MARY BROWNLEE
Thomas was the second of three brothers who moved into Nipissing Township. He was born
   Jan 19th 1853 in Bristol and married Mary Brownlee March 11 1885. He died August 18
   1937 and is buried in Nipissing Junction cemetery in North Bay. Thomas and Mary wed just
    as railroads made their big splash in Canadian history. Immediately Thomas caught the     bug and was hired by the railroad as a carpenter. They moved to North Bay where their four
     children were born.

JOSEPH STEELE AND SUSAN BROWNLEE
Joseph Steele was born the 12th child of John Steel and Sarah Odber in 1857 in Bristol.
    He married Susan Brownlee, sister of Mary Brownlee ( Thomas wife) in 1878), Joseph along with his brothers Tom and Henry moved north to Nipissing and reference is made to him in the booklet 'Pioneer Days' (op cit p.68) as being one of the earliest pioneers having come from Pontiac Cty. Province of Quebec. The same reference says Steele's Hill was named after Joseph.

Road runs between the farm field and the homestead  named after Joseph Steele  Newer home on the site of the old farm homestead which burned down.

1. WALTER BOYNTON
       Walter married Mabel Beatty Their three children were: Marvyn, Dorothy, James Omar

2. EFFIE MAUDE
            Effie married Robert Henry Simpson. They had eleven children.    Ella, Samuel James, Dora, Emma, Robert Borden, David, Susan, Ruby Irene, Cecil Joseph, Clair Arnold, Effie Maude.

3. ALBERT
        Albert married Jenny Thistlewhite Simpson ( Henry's sister?) Their eight children were:  Hazel Laurene, Clarice Onita, Allan Albert, Vera Ruth, Johanna, Murray Borham, Gerald, Elwin Joseph.

4. EDNA
    Edna married Laughlin (Lottie ) Wiggins. They had four children.Maxine, Orval, Jack, Creighton

5. THOMAS
    Thomas' wifes surname is unknown. Her christian name was Gertrude
                    They had five children:  Alice, Lloyd, William, Florence, Gladys

6.  JESSIE
    Jessie married Wharton Richardson, they had one son,  Everett.

7.  GORDON DAVID
    Gordon married Isobel (Bud) Campbell. There were four childen
                    from this family.   Wilda Laurene, Arva, Joyce Effie, Onita

8. LILA
       Lila married Lewis Barton and they had two children  Rita, Grenville

9.  GLADYS
       Gladys married Fred Wynne The couple had four children:
Ethel, Verla, Elaine, Frederick



                This accounts in part for the three Steele brothers Henry, Thomas
              and Joseph who travelled as Pioneers to Nipissing County in Ontario.
